BEHIND-THE-EAR (BTE) HEARING AIDS
Hearing aids behind the ear are the perfect choice if you want extra power in a stylish design.
If you have a severe hearing loss or small ear canals, behind-the-ear (BTE) hearing aids are an excellent solution.
In BTE hearing aids, all components are tucked neatly inside a durable case that sits on the back of the outer ear. Sounds are transmitted to the user’s ear directly, via a small tube or through an ear mold. BTE hearing aids have traditionally been the largest, but also the most powerful hearing aids available. You can choose from a broad range of sizes, shapes, and colors. You can easily control volume and select programs on most of our BTE hearing aids.
Receiver-in-canal (RIC) hearing aids
Receiver-in-canal (RIC) hearing aids are similar to behind-the-ear hearing aids in appearance and style. But they are tinier because the speaker is in the ear-tip instead of the case. Due to this different setup, this type of hearing aid has traditionally been smaller, lighter, and more discreet than a BTE, but not strong enough for wearers with severe hearing loss. These hearing aids are most suitable if you have mild hearing loss.
In-the-ear (ITE) hearing aids
These hearing aids are small, like an ear tip, and sit in the outer portion of the ear canal. Depending on the size of the ear canal, the ITE hearing aid is relatively discreet.
ITE hearing aids sit inside your ear, the shell of the hearing aid is custom-made to fit your ear’s shape. This shell contains all vital electronics and is great for on-the-go people who need their hearing aids to stay in place. ITE hearing aids are suitable for most types of hearing losses.
There are various sub-styles in this category, from the slightly larger but more powerful ITC (In-The-Canal) to the smaller CIC (Completely-In-Canal) or the virtually invisible IIC (Invisible-In-Canal) Hearing aids.
